Gemma + Jake at The Priests House | May 2026

“Sarah is incredible, she really made our wedding feel so intimate and personalised and all of our guests loved her! She [pays] such attention to all of the little details and makes you and your guests feel so comfortable...”
— Gemma, bride

I’d been following Gemma for a while on instagram when she asked me if I would lead her wedding to Jake. And if her gorgeous HOUSE was anything to go by, I knew her WEDDING would be beautiful. And floral and fun and pink. And baby I was right.

The view out through the doors of rural Yorkshire wedding venue The Priests House? So divine, with the rolling Yorkshire dales, it actually looked like a green screen.

The sight inside the doors? Candle-lit and festooned with local blush-pink flowers from The Little Village Florist.

What a backdrop to say I Do

Everything had been considered. Gemma is all about the detail, and the details shone out. Everything was beautiful; everything had been thought of. In the ceremony itself there were quite a few references to Gemma being a colour-loving, DIY-savvy superstar. The evening Jake and Gemma first started talking - on Tinder - it was 10pm and Jake was chilling.

What are you up to? he’d asked her.
Oh, just painting my kitchen
, she’d responded, casually.

The wedding was an aesthetically-pleasing delight, but the sentiment behind this celebration ran far deeper. Gemma and Jake’s wedding was about them declaring their love for each other, not just as a couple but as a blended family.

As Gemma and Jake stood holding hands at the top of the aisle, before their loved ones, I said that getting married was about being a family of six, closing the loop so that they all belonged together - officially. That they already knew that feeling of belonging, but this was acknowledging it out loud. And witnessed by everyone they love.

Rather than a traditional wedding band warming (where the rings are passed around every guest to imbue with love and luck), I invited their four adorable kids to the front and they held the rings, one by one, and made a wish for mummy and daddy in their heads.

A postcard-perfect location

Gemma had walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of one of her favourite songs, the song that she had used in a post to announce their engagement: Taylor Swift’s Snow on the Beach. And, with family at the heart of their day, including best friends who are their chosen family, it felt right that it was Jake’s talented brother George playing the baby grand piano as Gemma walked in with her dad.

The vibes at this wedding were so lovely, and that extended to a fab, friendly team of suppliers on the day too, including content creator Lauren and live wedding illustrator Zoe who I had a good natter with.

Not many of my couples sign their legal documents with the registrars on the same day as their celebrant ceremony, but Jake and Gemma chose to do something that worked nicely: after being cheered out of the ceremony by all their excited loved ones, they slipped off upstairs to a private room and met with the two local registrars straight away. Then, ten or fifteen minutes later, they emerged for confetti and drinks. And ice creams. And gossip.

As I chatted to family in the drinks reception Gemma’s mum was laughing, regaling me with a story from the legal signing just moments before. Jake’s middle name is Edward and Gemma had accidentally referred to her brand new husband - in the legal vows - as “I take you, Jedward-”. Easily done for a millennial.

As beautiful as any wedding is, it’s the unplanned, funny moments like that that I love.

“....could not recommend her any more!”
