Victoria + Beth at The Exchange 1856 | June 2026
“...honestly you were so incredible yesterday and everyone was raving about you!! Thank you for making our day even more special ”
I fell in love with these two immediately. They have the sort of energising warmth that makes you want to be in their presence. Hear them chat away, be part of their circle.
And me-oh-my do they have a circle who just adore them. I even got to feel spontaneously part of that gang when - sipping a rare out-of-the-house aperol with my husband Jonny - I bumped into them and their friends in their natural habitat: a night out on the Quayside in Newcastle. Victoria and Beth bounded over, excited to see their celebrant in the wild…but I was even more excited to see them! And, I can’t lie, delighted to look popular in front of Jonny.
It was March, just short of 100 days ‘til their big day, and all three of us were absolutely giddy about it.

And when it came to their wedding day, a sunny June day at The Exchange 1856, it didn’t disappoint. For starters, a baby (fortnight-old Ellis) had been born into the family just in time for Beth’s sister Paige to be able to attend. Only MVP Paige didn’t just ‘attend’: she came down the aisle as a bridesmaid and did a reading and had two small children in tow. Whatta woman.
We were all giddy with excitement
It felt like fun, powerful women were the theme of this day. And I don’t just mean the brides.
Beth and Victoria knew what they were doing when they chose their wedding suppliers: all girls, and all fun people. The very lovely, and very funny, Ellyse from Ellysium illustration was a huge hit - drawing guests keepsakes to take home. It was my first time meeting wedding singer Melissa, who is now one of my fave people in the industry. And I got to work with Becca again who is just the most fantastic, supportive wedding planner.
It’s a small world, to be honest. Newcastle always is.
I’d met one of Victoria and Beth’s best friends at another wedding the year before.
Planner Becca had asked me to officiate her own wedding, but I’d been away and gutted not to be able to.
And then, chatting to singer Melissa ahead of the ceremony, I found out her first wedding had been Becca’s.
Small world? Tiny.
When it came to the ceremony, everyone I could see was crying before we’d even properly begun. Myself included. We all welled up as Beth and Victoria took their turns walking down the aisle, Melissa singing them both in.
When this gorgeous pair got engaged it was out in New Zealand, after a night of wine tasting with family. So Victoria’s brother Phillip and his partner Rowena transported a very special bottle over for us to toast with in the ceremony, Beth and Victoria’s first drink as Mrs and Mrs. The wine was a firm favourite from their wine tasting night, a bottle they sampled on their last night as girlfriends, before they became fiancées, then in the ceremony they got to enjoy it again as newlywed wives.
Beth’s sister read You Are the Bubbles, and oh how they are
Beth and Victoria aren’t a match made in heaven, but one better: a match made by their circle of friends who just knew they’d be perfect for each other.
It seemed very fitting that they chose the wedding poem You Are the Bubbles. Victoria and Beth share this love which is absolutely effervescent; you simply cannot be in their presence without leaving feeling lighter, happier, bubblier. They have a relationship that feels like two truths at once: they have this secret inner world, just for the two of them but - at the same time - everyone in their community feels part of their love story too.
Together you are bubbles
The unburstable bubbles of the very best things in life
The only things any of us ever really need
